We celebrate Cinco de Mayo at Pitfire Pizza with, of course, pizza…and margaritas.
In celebration of Cinco de Mayo, Pitfire Pizza and Sonoratown have created a delicious one-day-only collaboration to benefit No Us Without You. All day, on Thursday, May 5 at all Pitfire Pizza locations, “The Chivichanga” – Sonoratown’s beloved burrito – will be reimagined on Pitfire Pizza’s sourdough crust. So, it’s a Chivichanga Pizza! The special collab is made with shredded chicken, slow-cooked guisado, Monterey jack and mild cheddar, the classic taco radish, onion and lime. It will be served with dippers of Sonoratown’s signature Spicy Chiltepin Salsa and avocado crema. “The Chivichanga” collaboration pizza will be available at all Pitfire locations for dine in, take-out and delivery through www.pitfirepizza.com. It will sell for $15 with $5 from each pizza sold going to support No Us Without You.
So, what drinks pair well with pizza? Anything! But, Pitfire Pizza will also be serving $5 margaritas. Or, if you’re a beer fan…
When two very L.A. restaurants collab to benefit a charity that helps feed people in need, everyone wins.
More about Sonoratown
Since opening in 2016, Sonoratown has become a Los Angeles staple for flour tortillas, tacos and burritos. Brought to life by service industry veterans Teodoro Diaz-Rodriguez, Jr. and Jennifer Feltham, the name “Sonoratown” pays homage to both the small Mexican border town where Teo grew up and the small community of Mexican immigrants who settled into the area now known as Chinatown after the Gold Rush. With a small but well-executed menu, friendly staff and a community-oriented focus, they have been featured on the LA Times 101 Best Restaurants as well as Netflix’s Original Series “Taco Chronicles”. Their foundational flour tortillas were the first winner of KCRW’s Great Tortilla Tournament, and a second location in Mid-City is expected to open in mid-2022. www.sonoratown.com.
More about the charity partner
No Us Without You LA a 501c3 public charity aimed at providing food relief to the most disenfranchised hospitality workers affected by the pandemic. Using their own money, the partners discovered they could feed a family of 4 for one week for just $33. No Us Without You LA has transformed Va’La Hospitality’s Boyle Heights office into a food distribution center. Currently, over 160,000 lbs of food is distributed every week. Donations have enabled the two partners to provide pantry essentials and fresh produce to back-of-house staff such as dishwashers, line and prep cooks.
