[NoHo Arts District, CA] – A NoHo Arts music review of Caroline Brennan’s “The Journey” EP.
More country!! It must the time of year!
Caroline Brennan has been making music since she was small. She grew up in a big musical family with her father the late great Noel Henry. When he passed she took the helm of his self-named band The Noel Henry Band. However, after 14 years with them, she branched out on her own.
She has a clear sweet voice, something of her Irish background perhaps? Perfect for the Americana, folksy country music she makes. The songs are catchy, beautifully written, poignant and commercial without being overdone.
That magic blend of craft and heart, poetry and hook, phenomenal production and that all important spontaneous ‘live’ feel. She has a Sheryl Crow vibe, but really she has very much her own sound. A lovely folksy country…again that’s the Irish I think. Whatever her path to her sound, it’s powerful…in the softest of ways.
She tells her stories of heartbreak and self reflection with her deeply soulful voice. I believe her when she sings “all the dark days that I’ve survived, all it takes is one good day for me to justify.” I really love these songs. Gorgeous construction, beautifully played and heartbreakingly sung. Love this!! More please!
