Annually on March 8th, International Women’s Day, MashUp recognizes the advancements of women with a three-day festival that includes free dance classes, an artistic director summit, and a fully produced showcase. The primary goal of this festival is to create space for artists to share their perspectives through dance and foster new relationships within the Los Angeles dance community. The company is thrilled to highlight unique and innovative female-identifying choreographers, and we look forward to safely doing so via this hybrid online and in-person celebration!

For the 2021 festival, MashUp is accepting finished, stand-alone dance films and pieces that were created for live performance in the proscenium setting. Applications are OPEN NOW to female-identifying artists in ALL career stages and styles of dance.

About MashUp Contemporary Dance Company

MashUp Contemporary Dance Company is dedicated to the movement of female bodies and feminist ideas. Prioritizing innovation, collaboration, and inclusion, MashUp uplifts female-identifying artists and builds community through contemporary dance.

MashUp Contemporary Dance Company is devoted to exemplifying a powerful and inspirational female image through dance and the arts. Inspired by the number of incredible female dancers in Los Angeles who were not given opportunities to perform to their full potential, Victoria Brown and Sarah Rodenhouse formed the company to provide female dancers with an outlet to share their talents and unique voices. As MashUp enters its second decade in 2021, the company has grown to include programming that also provides female choreographers the chance to showcase their work and tell their individual stories. MashUp Contemporary Dance Company continues to push towards providing audiences with outstanding and innovative artistic expression from women of all cultures, ethnicities, and backgrounds.
