This gloriously bluesy single reaches deep into your chest cavity, locates your heart and tears it apart…in the best possible way of course.
It’s a loud, punchy, relentlessly mournful celebration of loneliness. With a gorgeous soulful guitar, drums that take you to the absolute limit over and over again, a bass that gently pounds and some seriously husky and beautifully authentic vocals.
The guitar tells the story of course and it’s criminally heartbreaking…just as the very best blues guitar always is. Boy do these guys know their stuff. Brought together by Chas Rio who had a dream, so to speak, of creating a band that worked, both musically and literally. With brother Dave on guitar and vocals and the rather lovely David Cornejo on drums, together they are the quintessential, hardworking band, with a love for the music and a deep need to live by it.
This new single and comes after their last album release in 2019, “Cryin’ for the L Train.” Their last album was mostly covers, their favorite songs from their favorite artists. But “Lonely and Blue” is all original, and you can feel that sweet pain in every line.
I love music like this. Deeply wrought, finely crafted, meaningful, purposeful and alive. It’s brutally honest. The guitar sings and screams and cries while the bass and drums keep us all hooked. It’s a powerful song perfectly made for the disparate world we live in now…reminding us that without each other we are all utterly lost and, of course, lonely and blue…Loved it!!
