Best Weekend Getaways if You Live on the East Coast

East Coast Getaways

Summer is just about over, so it’s now time you think about fall foliage and weekend getaways. If you live on the East Coast, then you know how beautiful autumn can be. So, if you’re looking for the top places to marvel at everything the seasonal shift has to offer, you’ve come to the right place. Here are some of the top fall travel destinations on America’s East Coast to bask in all the cool weather, autumn breezes and breathtaking views.

Why Travel for the Weekend?

Weekend getaways are highly underrated. Usually, we focus on big picture vacations because we like to make our time off work as memorable as possible. But taking a trip for the weekend gives you an opportunity to see another part of the country any time of year, even if you are only off for the next 48 hours.

Maine

Maine is one the best places to admire the colored leaves before cold temperatures set in. At Acadia National Park, you can drive along Park Loop Road and take in over 27 miles of ponds, trails and an abundance of colorful trees at Jordan Pond. The best time to visit is in September through the end of October. Since the air can be crisp, be sure to pack a jacket.

Vermont

Vermont is another prime location for a weekend getaway. While there are plenty of beautiful areas to explore in the state, you should set your sights on Stowe. This village-like town is postcard picturesque with its Green Mountains and iconic white church. Before deciding on a quaint B&B, cruise up Green Mountain Byway for stunning views of the trees. If you’re the adventurous type, you can try out the zip line at Mount Mansfield and see the fall foliage from a different point of view.

Look for B&B’s that offer a cozy feel. Most offer quaint rooms where you can kick back, relax and enjoy the silence. If you enjoy vaping herbs or cannabis, and are looking for vaporizer you can take with you, the Arizer Solo is worth a try. This vaporizer is portable, heats up quickly and offers digital temperature control. It fits easily into your backpack when portability is a priority.

Catskill Mountains

If you’ve always wanted to visit the Catskill Mountain, early autumn is the perfect time to make the trip. Located only two hours outside of the city, the Catskills are the perfect getaway for city dwellers. In addition to hiking and zip lining, you can also enjoy a train ride through Hunter Mountain or go apple picking in Hudson County. Just make sure you visit prior to November. Otherwise, you might need snowshoes.

Finger Lakes

Also in Upstate New York are the Finger Lakes. Eleven lakes make up this beautiful area where you can hike, bike or even enjoy the day canoeing. Watkins Glen State Park also offer a variety of things to do on your weekend adventure including hiking and biking. There are 19 different waterfalls in the park, so don’t forget to bring a camera. The best time to visit is late September into early November.
