Anne Steele has the kind of crystal clear vocals that turn can pop songs into poetry and make them memorable enough to mark highly significant and unforgettable moments in our lives forever.
This EP is absolutely chock full of those kinds of genius performances and beautiful songs full of pathos, passion and life. It’s gorgeously produced, and her voice exquisitely balanced with the subtle, supportive orchestration and beats.
Anne’s voice reminds me of Terri Nunn from Berlin, Pat Benatar and Cyndi Lauper, who she performed with recently at the Home For The Holidays concert at The Beacon Theater in NYC for the True Colors Fund. She has their presence and nerve.
She’s also as brilliantly pop as Ariana Grande or Pink and just as gloriously and soulfully deep. Anne Steele is a multi-award-winning singer/songwriter from NYC and has toured nationally and abroad with her previous EP “What’s Mine.” Anne’s single from that EP, “Love Can Take Us There,” was released in 2016 with all proceeds benefitting the victims of The Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando.
With this new release, she is pop, dance, heartache and timelessness. I hear Madonna, I hear Kelly Clarkson, I hear anthems reminding us why we love, what we live for and lifting us all up, up, up. And don’t we just desperately need that right now? “Made of Stars” is timely and perceptive and relevant. This exquisite collection of songs, even the rather beautiful cover of Tears for Fears’ “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” is so clearly personal and significant to Anne that it immediately becomes ours to own. Loved, loved, loved it!!!
