An active weekend in Ojai, CA – (and yes a massage at the spa too!)
Only a little more than an hour’s drive from Los Angeles is a valley that features beautiful scenery, ubiquitous citrus groves, world-famous spas, hiking and biking trails, and a charming little historic town full of restaurants, shops and galleries. It’s Ojai – and it’s the perfect spot for a quick getaway from the Los Angeles area.
Start your day by renting a bike for 2 hours (about $25) at The Mob Shop in downtown Ojai.
They’ll give you an easy-to-follow map of a scenic, 10-mile, paved bike path loop that meanders around the edge of town and goes up a little into the foothills and past numerous citrus orchards. (Go to Ojai in the spring and you’ll be treated to the Ojai Pixie Tangerines; sweet, seedless and easy to peel ! )
After returning your bikes, grab lunch at one of the many restaurants in town. ( If you are there on a Sunday, also be sure to visit the Ojai Certified Farmers Market where you can get locally grown fruits and vegetables, jams, honey, breads, and arts and crafts.)
For spectacular views of the Ojai Valley and to witness Ojai’s famous Pink Moment (the magical time when the sun goes down and the Ojai Valley hills and mountains are awash in muted tones-pink, lavender and peach; head up around sunset in your car to Meditation Mount  This tranquil meditation center which sits high above the valley, has a terrific short nature walk path with reflection / meditation stations and offers incredible camera-ready vistas of the Ojai Valley.

After breakfast the next morning, go for an easy hike at Ojai Meadows Nature Reserve close to downtown and connect with the natural world. If you are in the mood for a more challenging hike, the nearby Los Padres National Forest offers a multitude of moderate and challenging hiking trails with spectacular views of the valley.
After all this hiking and biking in Ojai, it’s now time to sooth those muscles, decompress, relax and pamper yourself at one of Ojai’s world-famous spas such as The Oaks and Ojai Valley Inn and Spa. There are several boutique spas in Ojai to choose from as well.
Whatever your budget and pampering needs are, Ojai has just exactly what you are looking for in a spa.
If you have more time in Ojai beyond just a day or two, you can head over to nearby Lake Casitas for recreations such as boating, fishing, and/or kayaking.
