Alya relesase here album “Ten Years of Solitude” Album, produced by David Holman.
Alya is a multiple award-winning, independent musician.
A Russian-born, classically trained musician and dancer, “Ten Years of Solitude” is her first full-length album in what has been a long and hard fought road to success taking over a decade to produce this pretty astonishing and complex record.
Alya’s music is hard to define in simple terms. She is an amalgam of pop, rock, electronica and trip-hop and is clearly a woman with a lot to say. Her songs are full of lyrical, poetic and poignant observation on love, control and battling demons…sometime of her own making. “Each song in the album has a story; they are each quite different and diverse, but together they carry a strong message – you can do it, even if you are just the only soldier on a field,” says Alya.
The production is big….and that’s an understatement. The tracks soar and fall, the sound full and lush, and then at times striped back and open.
The sound always honoring the song with syncopation, gorgeous rhythms and beautiful orchestration. Alya’s voice is breathy, layered, emotional and triggering. She sometimes whispers, sometimes rips, but always true to the integrity of the song. Like the very best songstresses on the planet, Tori Amos, Kate Bush, Florence Welch, she grips her audience firmly by the hand, and sometimes by the neck as she demands our attention while sweetly spinning her musical yarns.
This is an album worthy of a decade’s work. The stories she tells are beautifully and painfully pulled from her heart…that much is very, very clear. Her voice is gorgeous, melancholy and wise, sinewy, dreamlike and extraordinary. This will be firmly on my music rotation for a while. Play it loud in your car, in your house and do yourself a big favor and plug it in to the phones in your head. All the subtleties of the fabulous production by David Holman will be instantly and unforgettably seared into your soul…..I LOVED THIS ALBUM!!
Amazing videos too. I’m a sucker for a cool video!
