[NoHo Arts District, CA] – A NoHo Arts theatre review of Heidi and Heather Schlitt show “All the Way to Green Bay” at the Hollywood Fringe Festival 2023.
This is an exciting time in Hollywood and for me. I’ve been coming to the Hollywood Fringe Festival for a number of years. It’s a great venue and a brilliant opportunity to see and experience cutting-edge and highly entertaining shows. “All the Way to Green Bay” does not disappoint and adds to the reputation of the Hollywood Fringe Festival’s ability to attract new and exciting talent.
This love letter to sisterhood, wood chicks, and the Packers, comes at the audience like a two-barrel shot in the guise of Heidi and Heather Schlitt. This dynamic duo wrote and stars in this little slice of Wisconsin. The dialogue is rapid fire and the two sisters are reminiscent of Lucille Ball times two. The writing is well crafted and lends itself to the rhythm of our leading ladies. The set design was sparse, but Heidi and Heather fill the stage with warmth, humor, and connection.
Watching the play, I felt as if I was a house guest, rather than an audience member. Speaking of hospitality. The Hudson Guild Theatres invite you to their home. From the welcoming staff members that check off your name at the door to the lovely little coffee shop that doubles as their green room. I have yet to see a play that wasn’t excellent at the “Hudson.”
“All the Way to Green Bay” is the kind of show that stays with you and is not easily forgotten. As I was enjoying the show, I couldn’t help but think of my friends from Michigan, Wisconsin, and Illinois (FIBS). The mannerisms, the speech patterns, and yes, even the accidents. Spot on ladies. I must say that my favorite moments came at the beginning and the very end of the show. The book ends that appear are hilarious and very poignant.
Will you enjoy yourselves? “Ya betcha.”
