Kevin West “Story of My Life” EP Release

Kevin West is serious about his music.

Over the last 20 years or so he has released five albums, this is his latest EP with six tracks of unpretentious, melodic, thoughtful and beautifully produced music.

It’s kind of mix of genres, some rock, a little funk, lot of jazz influence, fantastic musicianship and some pretty nifty arrangements. Clearly his focus was on the excellence of the musicians and he did a great job. The songs are great too, poetic lyrics, meaningful themes, familiar and relatable, but with a very distinct focus on craft.

The whole EP is wonderful. The more you listen, the more you hear and I love the live feel. He’s a working musician playing with other real working musicians and, at a certain point, you can just see them all, jamming in the rehearsal space, loving what they have spent a lifetime doing.

The opening track says it all I think, “Best of Mine.” It feels like a celebration of one man’s musical journey, one man’s purpose. With the help of some truly brilliant musicians, Kevin West makes this EP, this “Story of My Life” motor along…loved it!!!
