The rather gorgeous Aaron Beri hails from my part of the world originally – the UK – but has now settled in Australia by way of a successful modeling career in NYC.
Australia is not necessarily the first place you’d think of when it comes to 90s-inspired, super soulful, R&B pop, but what do I know!? He’s teamed up with the multi-award-winning producer Audius who brings his own sensuous take on Beri’s slow-burning love song “Naked.”
“Naked” is Beri’s first single off his upcoming album and it feels like a direct evolution from George Michael and Toni Braxton, with a pit stop at Sam Smith and a very distinct nod to 90s Madonna. It’s soulful and sexy, lush and rhythmically dripping with gorgeous, lusty vocals, soaring and harmonizing like the absolute best kind of 90s R&B.
The video is a brilliant piece of unapologetic retro cinematic splendor. A homage to “True Romance” with a good twist of Soderbergh’s “Out of Sight.” I love a great music video and this one is particularly slick…in a very good way. The whole package comes together very nicely. The song is pure R&B pop, classic and classy, old school made fully modern by the beautiful production. Perfect summer romance, slow dance, no regrets kind of music. I feel like getting my heart broken just so I can play it on repeat and weep into my pillow! I hope the album is more of the same! Loved it!!!!
