[NoHo Arts District, CA] – Gail McCann explores faith, identity and the freedom of questioning everything she once believed in her solo show Letting Go of Go(o)d: How Letting God Die Brought Me Back to Life, directed by Genevieve Thompson and produced by Jessica Lynn Johnson of Soaring Solo Studios at Theatre 68 Arts Complex.
About Letting Go of Go(o)d: How Letting God Die Brought Me Back to Life
Gail has always believed that her ship, built with the planks of Christian Fundamentalism, was her salvation. But as she begins to question the integrity of its structure, the ship begins to take on the murky waters she was always told would drown her. Struggling to prevent its capsizing, she contends with the dangerous questions organized religion has always answered for her. What is truth? Is she intrinsically evil? Inherently good? As she sails along the waters of her timeline, she must decide if she will surrender to the flooding of the ship and plunge into the waters of capricious creativity, beguiling breasts, and heretical happiness… or keep patching the invasive holes in her gasping God-ship.
