About MOTEL 66
MOTEL 66 is a collection of eight new one-acts set in different cities along ‘Get Your Kicks on Route 66’.
Why Route 66? Well, Route 66 starts in the heart of the country and goes west like the path of the dreamer, where you run into all types of people and all kinds of stories as humans take to the highway; sometimes in search of something; sometimes transitioning; sometimes reflecting.
Amboy (Amboy, CA)
Written by Lee Redmond
Directed by Kathryn Johnson Schwartz
Cast: Casey Alcoser, Lareen Faye, Shelby Hopkins and Cynthia Payo.
Two older women, Woof and Purl, intend to close their motel and retire. However, the arrival of an unexpected customer forces them to alter their plans…a little bit.
Ash Fault Highway (Eaton, CA)

After a catastrophic loss, a middle-aged couple struggles to find hope as well as restore faith in each other. A sage motel manager just might light the way.

Mr. Humphrey’s Package (Cuba, MO)

Cast: Stephanie Colet, Mimi Kmet, Gerard Marzilli and Steve Rozic
Three wary strangers gather at a motel on Route 66 in hopes of placing the winning bid on a mysterious package from the enigmatic Mr. Humphrey. A woman claiming to be an independent film producer arrives, camera in hand and suddenly what everyone thought was reality is revealed to be something else altogether.

Maya and Liam are one stop from finishing the road trip their father never got to take, until one of them wants to turn back. A funny, aching story about the people and dreams we leave behind.

Two high school friends (both widowed) return to their Route 66 hometown for a major reunion. Although these idealistic friends double-dated back in the day, could the Four Musketeers really downsize to a romantic duo?

Free street parking and free limited early bird lot parking next to the theatre. The Upstairs Theatre is not handicapped accessible.
