Public Art: Tongva Nation

When European settlers first arrived in Southern California, approximately 5,000 members of the Tongva nation lived in 100 villages, from San Gabriel to Catalina. Today, over 2,000 Tongva members live in and contribute to the City of Los Angeles.

Join us at the North Hollywood Amelia Earhart Library when Ernie Merlan, founder of Muralism, and Matthew “Xus” Dominguez, Art Lead and Cultural Consultant, share the story behind at their creation of the large-scale Tongva mural in North Hollywood, titled “We’re Still Here After 10,000 Years.”
