[NoHo Arts District, CA] – A NoHo Arts theatre review of Write Act Repertory’s Write of Spring 2026 FIRSTS – six original plays written and performed by Write Act Repertory theatre artists, running March 28 – April 12 at The Brickhouse Theatre.
Write Act Rep always brings such diverse and creative ideas to the stage of The Brickhouse Theatre. This collection of new short plays revolves around the idea of ‘firsts.’ First love, first car crash, first lovers, first superstar mountain lion, first threesome. All compelling stories from the minds of the Write Act Rep members.

I always enjoy Write Act Rep’s productions. They embrace the strange and revel in the thought provoking and funny. These plays are more of the same from them. With a group of dedicated actors who flit from story to story, embodying a myriad of characters in weird and wonderful situations.
Who can resist the story of falling in love at first sight with a beautiful woman on a subway train? A shy man replays one scenario after another where he might connect with a woman only to end in one rebuttal after another.
Two long-term lovers reminisce about their own first loves. Years have passed and they are still in love, still together. What makes them different from past lovers? How are they each other’s permanent and forever after?

On your way to an important job interview? What’s one of the worst things that could happen? Drunk driver collides with you and the cop you call for help is siding with them.
How about the poetic tale of the scientist and the king of L.A.’s Mountain Lions, P22. Falling in love was never a part of the formula!
A couple whose love is fading experiments with a threesome, and the inevitable happens. Who could have seen that coming!?
Tired of marching! I’m tired of having to quite frankly, and I’m not the only one apparently! An activist depressed by invisible results is inspired to return to the cause.

I love short plays, and Write Act Rep has quietly become the experts at short-form theatre. I love their ambition and their camaraderie. The stories are interesting and funny, bold and heartfelt! Bravo!! Support local NoHo Theatre!!!
