[NoHo Arts District, CA] – Write Act Repertory is pleased to announce My Tiger, an original play written and directed by Dionysius Vlachos that examines race and identity.
My Tiger premiered at the Hollywood Fringe Festival in 2025, where it was nominated for Best Dramatic Theatre. Spanning 25 years, it is a semi-autobiographical story that follows a young mixed-race boy in rural Pennsylvania as he grows into his adulthood. It is a story of Asian-American identity, belonging, and how people change with the passing of time.
Themed around the Chinese Zodiac, My Tiger starts in the mid 90s and goes up to present day. It is an examination of the mixed-race experience. What is it like to exist between races? How do you define your race in a world that is constantly choosing for you? What is the price that is worth paying for your identity?
“Tiger people are aggressive, courageous, candid and sensitive. Look to the Horse and Dog for happiness. Beware of the Monkey.” – Placemat at Panda Inn
