[NoHo Arts District, CA] – The All Roads Theatre Company proudly presents Jerry Herman’s “Mack & Mabel” in concert February 16-18 for four performances only at El Portal Theatre.
Starring DERMOT MULRONEY, star of “My Best Friends Wedding,” “Young Guns,” “August Osage County,” and “Longtime Companion” and international star, CAROLINE O’CONNOR, co-star of the legendary film “Moulin Rouge” and Broadway’s “Chicago,” “A Christmas Story,” and “Anastasia.” And introducing the brilliant young Jenna Lea Rosen as Mabel Normand!
A rollicking and rowdy romantic musical comedy based loosely on the star-crossed love affair of silent film director Mack Sennett and screen star Mabel Normand, “Mack & Mabel” originally starred Robert Preston, Bernadette Peters and Lisa Kirk. Although the original show had a limited run on Broadway it has gone on to worldwide cult status and is now regarded as one of Broadway’s greatest “forgotten” musicals.
Featuring a fabulous 18-piece orchestra plus 40 singers and dancers, “Mack & Mabel” is a tuneful, bouncy journey back to the silent film era with Keystone Cops, Bathing Beauties and a tap dancing finale!
Jerry Herman, legendary composer of “Hello, Dolly!” “Mame” and “LaCage Aux Folles” called “Mack & Mabel” his favorite of all of his scores and this is a RARE opportunity to hear this lost musical presented as it was meant to be heard with a bigger orchestra than is now used for most Broadway musicals! This is a once-in-a-lifetime, “must see” event for all Los Angeles musical theatre lovers!
This concert is a benefit launch for All Roads Theatre Company which is L.A.’s newest Equity, professional theatre company. Your support guarantees future seasons of professional productions at the gorgeous El Portal Theatre and all around the L.A. area!
Special Note! Opening night gala tickets are available for Friday, February 16, which includes an invite to the opening night reception/buffet and champagne toast!
