2019 Holiday Decorating

Here we are again approaching the holiday season.

With Thanksgiving almost here and gone, we can now concentrate on the December holidays.

I love this time of year.  I have looked forward to each Christmas season my whole life.  The fond memories created by my family resonates in my mind almost daily now.  Visiting family and friends, sharing gifts, and the scents of freshly baked cookies and pies filled the air.  The fresh scents of real Christmas trees and wreaths always takes me back to bringing the tree through the front door to decorate, hot chocolate made with my mom and watching ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’.

With the aforementioned memories, I’ve decided to decorate a bit differently this year. It’s all about the scents and texture of the season.  I love the look of a traditional tree.  Adding strands of popcorn, streaming ribbons and glass ornaments.  I have a collection of miniature Hummel’s I love using along with a few unique decorations from the family.  As I age, these things tend to become much more special to me.

I always add a wreath to my door.  This year is no different.  For me, it sets the tone.  A fresh wreath decorated with ribbon, berries and a few ornaments is always welcoming.

As for my dining table, I simply add candles surrounded by garland and pine cones.

These are mere suggestions and a glimpse into my traditions.  We all have family traditions passed down through the generations. Whether a holiday decoration or a family recipe, enjoy this holiday to its fullest.

Merry Christmas!
