“A Completely Unauthorized David Lynch Christmas Carol”
Through December 17
Packed full of dance, music, strange sounds and oddities, the original production, “A Completely Unauthorized David Lynch Christmas Carol” is an eerie look into the classic tale “A Christmas Carol” if it had been visualized by David Lynch.
“It’s a Wonderful Life: The Radio Play”
Through December 17
TU brings the naughty and the nice to the holidays.
(The Nice) It’s a Wonderful Life: The Radio Play takes place at KAWL, a struggling 1940s radio station that good-hearted owner Michael Anderson is barely keeping alive. He calls on some old friends (with big personalities) and some less-than-professional station employees to offer up a live radio version of Frank Capra’s touching masterpiece It’s a Wonderful Life in what might sadly be the station’s last live show. But it’s the holidays, a time when miracles can happen…
“A Very Die Hard Christmas”
Through December 17
TU brings the naughty and the nice to the holidays.
(The Naughty) In A Very Die Hard Christmas, a team of terrorists has seized a building, taken hostages, and declared war. One man has managed to escape. An off-duty cop hiding somewhere inside. He’s alone, tired…and he doesn’t like Christmas. This is much more than a stage version of the holiday classic Die Hard, its parody at its best with Christmas miracles and familiar holiday friends galore. Yippee Ki-Yay, Father Christmas!
“Rocky the Renegade Reindeer ”
Through December 23
The Group Rep presents “Rocky the Renegade Reindeer,” written by Craig Alpaugh, directed by Robert Axelrod. Rocky, the back-up reindeer for Santa Claus, organizes a strike among the other reindeer on Christmas Eve. Can Santa save the day?
“ASTROGLYDE 2017”
Through December 17
Zombie Joe’s Underground Theatre Group’s annual holiday production of eight all-new mini-plays embracing truth, terror and titillation! Written, performed and crafted by ZJU’s fearless Underground.
“All I Want for Christmas is My Sanity Clause”
Through December 16
Each year since 2000, the Actors Workout Studio has produced a holiday benefit show to raise money for organizations such as Toys for Tots. Through this annual event, they celebrate our community and give back to those less fortunate. All I Want for Christmas is My Sanity Clause is a collection of six short holiday plays that encompass every aspect of the holiday season. The beautiful angel on top of the tree, the vivacious poinsettias painting door steps, quality time with extended family and shop…lifting? A dancing goat? An elaborate holiday suicide? Come and enjoy these heart-warming plays this holiday season and find out what happens when Santa Claus is stuck in an interrogation room on Christmas Eve!
“Santasia – A Holiday Comedy”
Through December 25
Santasia – A Holiday Comedy is a hilarious holiday musical sketch comedy show that embraces all the iconic moments of the Christmas season. The critically acclaimed seasonal sensation has run for 18 years in Los Angeles and is jam packed with a biting blend of yuletide snark and sentiment.
SANTASIA’s relentless assault on your holiday funny-bone will have you hurting from laughter. Stocking stuffed with everything from dysfunctional family sketches to pieces of beautiful heartfelt sentiment, it conjures up memories of your own Christmas past. The hysterical holiday classic has been compared to the Carol Burnett Show, Kids in the Hall, In Living Color, and Saturday Night Live.
“Blood Alley Christmas”
Through December 16
Zombie Joe’s Underground Theatre Group proudly presents their All-New 2017 Holiday-Horror-Theater Spectacular in the great Grand Guignol, Theatre of Cruelty and Butoh-Traditions, centering around the traumatic memoirs of a forgotten street-alley haunted by the longing, beauty and unspeakable yule-tide events of its cold, diabolical past; a cursed place of no mercy, inhabited by a hundred-year accumulation of apparitions, phantasms and seductive-sub-breeds that desperately await their next victim! Directed by Zombie Joe.
“Scrooge, The Musical”
Through December 17
Avenue Act I* and BIG OAK THEATRE present “Scrooge, The Musical” – the musical version of the Dicken’s classic, “The Christmas Carol.” This family holiday favorite transports you to 1860s London to witness the transformation of “rotten old Scrooge” as he is visited by the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future.
