The San Fernando Valley Arts Council will be hosting their annual Valley Artists Studio Tour on Saturday, October 1 and Sunday, October 2, 2011. Tour is from 10:00am to 5:00pm on both days During this two-day event 24 Valley artists will be opening their studios to the public. Among them are artists like Valley Village artist Evans Webb whose vibrant portraits of the world are described by mathematics, or reflected in telescopes and microscopes; Sherman Oaks artist Susan Manders-U.S.Olympic artist with narrative expres-sionist paintings, limited editions, jewelry and ceramics; Valley Glen’s Charles Knecht whose impressionistic paintings expresses the essence of romanticism in landscapes; Studio City artists: Sylvia Hamilton Golden whose paintings, monotypes and mixed media, capture movement, energy and emotion; Clara Berta whose colorful mixed media art integrates recycled materials, photos, and playful textures and Michael Culhane who has developed large garden kinetic sculptures as well as interior conceptual film industry art in alloy metals.

Other participating artists are Calabasas artist Lyn Gertenbach recognized for her impressionistic, plein-air oils of landscapes, seascapes, figurative works, and portraits; West Hills Christina Lynn John who fuses glass with vibrant colors in addition produces realistic, tranquil watercolors; Reseda artist Steve Lenchner who is acclaimed for his fused glass and frit painting for tiles, windows, room dividers, counters, tableware and jewelry,and Diane Nelson Gold who renders Nature’s vibrant color and design in plein-air oils, photography, and jewelry.

vastAn elegant reception featuring food, wine and live music will be held Saturday evening, October 1, from 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. During the evening, Kathleen Sterling, publisher of the Woodland Hills based Valley News Group publications-The Warner Center News, Valley Vantage and Los Virgenes Enterprise- will be honored as the first recipient of the Sterling Award in recognition of her years of dedication and support to the Arts and Culture of the San Fernando Valley.Each artists has graciously submitted a selection of their work to be sold, with 30% of the proceeds donated to art education programs and scholarships for San Fernando Valley art students. Reception attendees will choose the Peoples Choice Award.
