3. Infinity Pool

Starring Alexander Skarsgard, Cleopatra Coleman, and Mia Goth, this dark drama follows a couple whose idyllic vacation quickly descends into a nightmare.

James and Em Foster accept an all-inclusive beach vacation but end up on a mysterious island full of unorthodox subcultures. After James’s abrupt nighttime pedestrian collision in the trailer, we watch the visuals devolve into a whirlwind of dread, mind games, sex, and blood.

4. Swallowed

Swallowed combines body horror with romance in a wonderfully unconventional and ultimately effective way, despite a choppy second act.

5. The Exorcist

In 2023, there will be yet another Exorcist picture, and it looks like it will be much more frightening than the one that won an Oscar that year. This updated version of the classic from 1973 stars Leslie Odom Jr. and  Ellen Burstyn. Critics are anticipating a massively successful comeback with Burstyn’s return as Chris McNeil and a brand new cast and crew. On October 13, 2023, The Exorcist will hit theaters.

6. Scream 6

After the last round of Ghostface killings in Scream 5, the remaining residents decide to leave their small hamlet and start over in the big city of New York in Scream 6. The appearance of a new Ghostface killer in the large city haunts the group despite their best efforts to put the past to rest.

7. Salem’s Lot

Salem’s Lot is a film version of the 1979 TV series, which was adapted from the novel by Stephen King. The film follows a young writer as he returns to his home of Jerusalem’s Lot in search of inspiration.

He plans to pen a piece about the former residence of a serial killer, which has loomed large in his mind and the minds of the locals. As the author quickly discovers, the truth is even more terrifying than his worst nightmares, as the house actually does house a vampire.

8. Saw X

Even if 2021’s Spiral was a letdown for the Saw franchise, the tenth film, Saw X, has a chance to make viewers care once more about Jigsaw and his bloody antics. Tobin Bell, playing serial killer John Kramer (who operates the disturbing doll), will reprise his role.

9. The Outwaters

The Outwaters is an ambitious and generally effective piece of found-footage horror, even if its reticence may annoy some viewers.

When a party of campers across the Mojave Desert begins to observe strange phenomena, including strange animal behavior and inexplicable noises, the atmosphere quickly becomes unsettling. Then one night, everything changes, and the four of them embark on a terrifying mental journey.

10. The Offering

The Offering takes the conventions of horror films about possessed people and gives them a new, and often very frightening, twist while staying within the framework of its rather traditional tale.

The son of a Hasidic mortician goes home alongside his pregnant wife after the disappearance of a Jewish girl, hoping to make peace with his father. They have no idea that a mystery body, stored immediately below them in the family’s morgue, is harboring an ancient evil with nefarious plans for the unborn kid.
