Wise John “A Wonderful World” Album Release

Wise John’s album “A Wonderful World” is part Rufus Wainwright, part Danny Elfman and all folksy, soulful, jazz rock poet.

Wise John’s debut album is a beyond beautiful, a sweetly melancholic gaze into the soul of an intricate man.  Sometimes a furiously intricate one.  His lyrics are explicitly his.  He holds nothing back as he writes about heartbreak, loss, or coping with a confusing life where what is planned is rarely reached.  Especially if you have the soul of a poet.

Musically, “A Wonderful World” is really extraordinary. Some songs raw and live and solo, in a lonely pandemic kind of way. Some full and crashing and euphoric.  It’s a gorgeous album…truly gorgeous.

Wise John’s voice is open and authentic and so full of every word he says that you absolutely believe him.  I love believing artists.  Especially musicians.

Yet, the songs are full of humour, pathos and depth. Songs that are finely crafted, purposeful and just incredibly good. So good that each of them is an individual story, a single in its own right.  An album sometimes has a track or two that is supportive music, a way to get from one “hit” to another.  But, every track on this album is a stand-alone song.  It’s a deep dive into the wonderful world of Wise John and a journey worth taking in every sense of the word.

Each of his songs paints pictures as he sings. I can almost see the stories playing out as intricate animations evolving with each note…Utterly, Utterly brilliant.

I absolutely love “A Wonderful World.” Truly. Please buy it!!!  We need to support emerging artists with interesting and compelling stories to tell and Wise John is an engaging and amazing artist.
