Boy do we need music like this right now, more than ever before. Beautiful waves of complex yet breathlessly evocative soundscapes and rhythms.
Human, fluid, echoing and full of nuance, “Memories” is a perfect title for this collection.
I could actually feel the memories flow. Allowing myself to close my eyes and safely recall. So much of everything lately has been harrowing and full of betrayal. This music, created by the multi talented Jared Simmons, as Vipid, brings us solace. It’s moving, provocative but in a nice way. Nothing challenging, only centering and gently engaging. All instrumental, giving us the space to create our own stories and to see our own reflection in these gorgeous tracks.
I love instrumental electronic music. This reminds me a lot of Georgio Moroder, aka “Electric Dreams” and Vangelis. How they both create a landscape and an intimate delicate connection between the listener and their sound. This has that same organic mechanism. Using the pulse of the digital and the circuit to not just mimic life but remind us that life actually is digital, chemical and electric.
“Memories” a gorgeous reprieve from our present trauma, it might even help us heal, as we spin though our collective chaos. I love this album. Its sweetness caught me totally off guard and eased my mind as it tickled my heart…utterly beautiful!!
A local artist too! Jared Simmons is Burbank based and his name is almost mine!
