LPNSImprov’s monthly comedy show, “MAKIN’ A MOVIE,” stars the rambunctious improv troupe The MaD JaCKRaTS. It’s 90 minutes of unique improv comedy. (Read the review>>)

Each month is themed with a special name and The MaD JaCKRaTS start with a comedy act such as a musical parody, a sketch or a funny dance. Following the opening number, there are three 15-20-minute improv segments that each tell a complete story and are based on audience suggestions. It’s like mini movies are being created, costumed and performed right before your eyes, hence the title of the show, “MAKIN’ A MOVIE.”

“Each show is unique and never fails because we believe in really getting people ready to hit the stage hard, creating endless laughter,” says LPNSImprov founder, Lauren Patience Nadler. “It’s a full-blown theatre experience you don’t want to miss!”

This month’s “MAKIN’ A MOVIE” show adds a special group of guests, The JuNioR JaCKRaTS.

Who are The JuNioR JaCKRaTS?

This brand new troupe is called The JuNioR JaCKRaTS. Six years ago when we started the LPNSImprov show “MAKIN’ A MOVIE,” starring improv troupe The MaD JaCKRaTS, the name of the group came about as an acronym using all of the first letters of the original members’ names. For the last few years we had a troupe called The BaBy JaCKaRaTS who opened for The MaD JaCKRaTS several times. We affectionately called them the BaBies because they were a little younger and extremely adorable and it stuck. Some of the BaBies are MaD JaCKRaTS now and others are recurring guest stars. The JuNioRS JaCKRaTS is a completely new group of all guys who needed a new name. We’re affectionately calling them The JuNioR JaCKRaTS because they aren’t babies. They’re more like upperclassmen, ready to hit the ground running!

How can one get involved and become a JuNioR JaCKRaTS? Class times, locations?

The first step to getting involved is starting class! This unique improv format was created and cultivated by Lauren Patrice Nadler and is exclusively taught by her at LPN Studios. You can audit a class for free or jump right in. Classes are held Wednesdays from 6:30-10:30pm, Thursdays from 3:30-7:30pm, and Saturdays from 1-5pm. In addition there is a Master Class Mondays from 6:30-10:30pm and a teen class Sundays from 2-4:30pm. LPN Studios is located in North Hollywood. All info about the acting studio can be found on the website

JuNioR JaCKRaTS Adrian Alexander Gamez and Matt Fuentes choose a suggestion for rehearsal.

Why did you start the juniors?

We started The JuNioR JaCKRaTS because it was time! There is no audition process. It’s more of a leap of faith on stage in front of a live audience. We invite those who are “ready” and create an outstanding troupe, and these guys are ready!

The last troupe to open came from the teen division, The MiNi BaBY JaCKRaTS, who performed twice in 2019. They came on the tail of The BaBY JaCKRaTS and now The JuNioR JaCKRaTS are ready to get on stage and show off their amazing talent! We’re also developing a new troupe of all ladies, so we have that to look forward to! We believe in rewarding talent when it shows up and LPN Studios strikes again with these rising stars.

You can see The JuNioR JaCKRaTS perform with The MaD JaCKRaTS in this month’s theme, “The Laughs Aplenty in 2020 Show!”
