[NoHo Arts District, CA] – Actor and writer Melissa Lugo presents a deeply personal solo performance in FOR YOU, directed by Paul Millet, opening at Whitefire Theatre SOLOFEST 2025 on April 10.
About FOR YOU
This powerful body of work delves into the raw and complex intersections of motherhood, fertility, addiction, and grief. It offers a compelling visual narrative that invites reflection and dialogue.
The path to motherhood opens old wounds, forcing a new mom to come to grips with the death of her own mom.
For You is a story that weaves through grief, addiction and the bond between mothers and daughters.
However, finding humor in these heavy topics is essential. After all, “Life is worth living as long as there’s a laugh in it.” – Lucy Maud Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables.
Age advisory is 16+
Topics discussed: sobriety, pregnancy loss, chronic illness, loss of a loved one and the role medication played.
“Comic at times, wise and vulnerable, the solo delivers in the writing, acting and direction.” – Robert Bailey (Writer/Performer/Director, founding member at Washington Theatre Laboratory and faculty at USC of Dramatic Arts since 2010)
“…she brings that truth and she brings out those true feelings in you as you’re watching it.” – Arden Lewis (Playwright/Director, Daytime Emmy Award Winner – Leveling Lincoln)
FOR YOU has garnered recognition at Solofest 2024 winning an Encore Performance, a successful run at the Hollywood Fringe Festival in 2024, Best Director & Best Design Nominations at the 30 Minutes or Less Fest with Theater Asylum and Combined Artform, and will also be performed at the 32nd Annual LA Women’s Theatre Festival.
