Lizzo “Juice”

We’re listening to LIZZO’s “Juice” from her upcoming album “Cuz I Love You.”

We first heard rapper/singer/flautist (yeah, really) Lizzo from one of our exchange student young artists. They played “Phone” and we laughed and we danced. “Where the hell my phone? How I’m supposed to get home?” Right? We can relate as this is our world, and Lizzo sings about it. It’s now. It’s funny. It’s true. The vogue rhythm is entrancing, making you want to duck walk and dip.

But we’re listening to “Juice,” Lizzo’s new track off her soon-to-be-released album “Cuz I Love You.” Why? Because it’s saucy, sassy and danceable.

“Juice” is an instant dance song with 80s new wave flavors peppered throughout. It’s a retro-funk-pop song all decked out with synths, and shots of sax and guitar bring out the funk. Her flow is melodic and you want to hear what she says.

It’s the songwriting that hooked us. It’s positive. It’s inclusive. Because “If I’m shinin’, everybody gonna shine.” It’s colorful and witty. There’s no pretend in her words. You’ve got to love a song with one-liners that resonate to all.

If I’m shinin’, everybody gonna shine (Yeah, I’m goals)
I was born like this, don’t even gotta try (Now you know)
I’m like chardonnay, get better over time (So you know)
Heard you say I’m not the baddest, bitch, you lie (Haha)

Now this is inspiring. Her caption for the Facebook photo reads: “Hey. It’s me Lizzo… I’m freaking out on the inside, but at least my outsides is cute.”

Take a look at the shiny, 80s-inspired video with leg warmers and an ode to Soul Glow, which only boosts the upbeat vibe.

The melody, lyrics and visuals coming from this captivating songstress hooked us and made us listen to more.

Everyone should and will know Lizzo. She went on Ellen, enough said. Her song “Good As Hell” was featured on the hit show “Grownish” too. Lizzo releases “Cuz I Love You” on April 19, just in time for her Coachella show. Hopefully she’ll do a pop up show in L.A. so we don’t have to pay a month’s rent to be dirty for three days. (no shade, just the dirty truth.)

We also chose this Lizzo’s “Juice” as our Valentine’s Day-inspired post with the take away – love yourself.

Show Lizzo some love!
