About this Event
LISA MORTON, a six-time Bram Stoker Award-winning writer, author, editor, screenwriter and podcaster, will offer an illustrated talk based on her book, Calling the Spirits: A History of Seances.
JESSICA LANDRY, a screenwriter and Bram Stoker Award-winning author, will join Lisa in conversation and moderate questions from participants on how and why this fascinating and, to some, fearful practice evolved and spread over many centuries. And how it attracted people a diverse as Harry Houdini, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the teenage Fox sisters, the medium Helen Duncan, and others.
This free virtual event is suitable for adults and older teens, and is co-presented as a public service by the Friends of the North Hollywood Library and Friends of the Woodland Hills Library, both in the east San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles.
