I live in Southern California, L.A. to be exact, so it comes as no surprise to me at all that Kevin Thomas is from San Diego…a mere couple of hours down the freeway.

His music is classic, laid back California pop/folk/rock.  Sweetly sung and full of the rhythms and references of the life out here.  The ocean, the bars,  the sun, the mountains, the hiking, the wide open blue skies, the politics and the gorgeous variety of the people.

Kevin’s music is purposeful and uplifting.  He plays every instrument and self produces so what he wanted to give us with this album is surely what we get.  The songs are hopeful even as they are instructive and even a little cautionary, but not at all in a heavy way.   It’s a little Dave Matthews, a little Ben Harper, a little Jackson Browne…all good!

The melodies ebb as the lyrics flow and the result is catchy, lyrical, memorable and powerful musical.  Kevin is a musical academic as well as a seasoned artist, having toured around the world with a huge selection of bands.  He performs his own material regularly and you can feel it in his music.  There’s a confidence in his songs that only comes from experience. He actually teaches songwriting and music composition as well as many different forms of guitar.

So a well- traveled, career musician with a poet’s heart and a maestro’s musical ability creates an album of beautiful melodies, funky rhythms and thoughtful, inspiring words….love it!!! Perfect timing as the rains finally abate, the air is full of the song of birds, and the scent of the blossoming trees and the California sun is here to stay.
