The Gloria Gifford Conservatory for the Performing Arts (THE GGC) has officially been in existence since 1998, although Gloria Gifford (HALLOWEEN II, THIS IS SPINAL TAP, 48 HRS, TRACEY TAKES ON, THE NANNY,) started teaching children and teens in 1985 at various schools in Los Angeles. The GGC started teaching adults in 1998 with successful students like Max Greenfield and Kyle Massey among many others. Gloria grew up in NYC and graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a major in Political Science. She married her college sweetheart, had a son and after a few years as an Executive at Bloomingdale’s she went after her dream. Gloria made her acting debut on Broadway in a Shakesperian adaptation of The Merchant of Venice called THE MERCHANT and was discovered and cast opposite Richard Pryor in Neil Simon’s star studded, Academy Award winning CALIFORNIA SUITE. She moved to Los Angeles and has been starring on television and in feature films with side trips to star in London and Canada on stage.
The GGC is now located on Theatre Row in Hollywood in a beautiful renovated space that was formerly a famous nightclub. 6502 Santa Monica Blvd. 310.535.4999/310.366.5505.
The intro class – called The Tyro Class – is on Saturdays from 2pm to 6pm; The Advanced Class is on Sundays from 2pm to 6pm with all students also coming to the special class on Wednesday nights at 7:30pm. Gloria teaches those classes. Wednesday nights we have famous guests, do full readings of plays, have script analysis and movie nights as well as talent nights. Classes are ongoing.
The GGC does full productions every year and has won many awards for the Shakespeare plays with music and comedies and dramas. Recently won NAACP THEATRE AWARD- Best Director of a play- SHAKESPEARE’S ANTONY & CLEOPATRA. The GGC also does showcases.
