Los Angeles is our Master School and Master Program. We offer ongoing, weekly classes specializing in our famous audition technique taught by master instructor/Gray Studios owner David Barry Gray and the entire Gray Studios Team (Anthony Ocasio, Curt Mega, and Kenton Duty). We also offer improv (taught by Curt Mega & Kenton Duty), Commercial Technique (taught by Scott Parkin), Stand Up (taught by Kimberly McVicar) Voice Over (taught by John Mitchell and Ogie Banks) & Scene Study (taught by John Posey). We also offer our famous Make-A-Movie film camps, where we craft a short film from concept to final cut, involving the students every step of the way. They will get the chance to help craft and create their own characters in a professional but fun atmosphere. Upon completion of the camp, each student will be provided with a copy of the film for their own personal use and receive IMDB credit! Our camps are fast, fun and you’ll be working with real industry pros who are excited to share their passion for filmmaking with your kids!
David Barry Gray
A longtime student of acting, David Gray grew up on and around the stages of New York City. He is a Graduate of NYC’s High School of Performing Arts. He studied extensively after high school, with his prime mentor Anthony Abeson. He also attended H.B. Studios where he had the pleasure of studying with such teachers (and actors) as Herbert Bergoff, Carol Rosenfeld, Bill Hickey, and Uta Hagen. As an actor, David performed on and off Broadway. Most notable was his critically acclaimed portrayal of Rodolpho in the Tony Award Winning production of Arthur Miller’s A View From The Bridge. He has performed at Lincoln Center, The John Houseman Theater, Playwrights Horizons and many other venues in NYC. He is a company member at South Coast Repertory Theater in Orange County, California. He has appeared in several feature films working with Academy Award Winning directors Oliver Stone in Nixon, and Anthony Minghella in Mr.Wonderful, as well the feature films One Good Cop, S.F.W., Mutiny, Dead Presidents, Lawn Dogs, Cops And Robbersons, Why Do Fools Fall In Love, and Soldier Boyz. He has been a regular on three network series: Fox’s 21 Jump Street, NBC’s Dream Street, and NBC’s The Client. David most recently played Todd Palin in the critically acclaimed HBO movie, Game Change. He is thrilled to be teaching alongside his wife, and love of his life Shanelle Gray.
Shanelle Gray grew up performing – her first job was on stage in the role of “Young Cosette” in the Broadway production of Les Miserables. At 13, she starred in the ABC pilot Howie & Rose, and continued her television and theatrical career with recurring roles in Daytime Soap Opera’s One Life to Live and The Bold and the Beautiful, along with guest-starring roles in Cory in the House, Grey’s Anatomy, and Rizzoli & Isles. Shanelle also lends her voice to a number of video games, cartoons, and television and radio commercials. She is thrilled to teach alongside her husband and love of her life, David.

Anthony Ocasio has been an instructor at Gray Studios for over 11 years. He began acting at an early age on the stages of Chicago, appearing in various plays in theatres such as The Diary of Ann Frank, Grease, and Juvie. He moved to Los Angeles at 18 to continue his theatrical education at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy, and was fortunate to train with two Second City veterans for two years. He booked his first television role on Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana, followed a few years later by a role in a World War II feature film Fortress. He has an amazing booking ratio with his students and brings a wealth of knowledge, practical feedback, and specificity to his coaching and teaching.
Curt is a Los Angeles based actor, writer, improviser, and singer from Dallas, Tx, best known for his four-season recurring role as Nick the Warbler on Fox’s hit show Glee. He led the Warblers in Billy Joel’s Uptown Girl. Recent TV credits include Stuck in the Middle on Disney, Criminal Minds on CBS, Game Shakers on Nickelodeon , NCIS: LA on CBS, Code Black on CBS, Crazy Ex Girlfriend on CW, Switched at Birth on ABC Family/Freeform, and The Get (CBS Pilot starring Brad Garrett & Amy Brenneman). He can be seen in the indie feature film comedy Spare Change. He can be seen in a variety of digital series including Buffering the Series, Brian Remus Science Genius, Inside the Extras Studio, The Fine Brother’s Last Moments of Relationships, Shipwrecked Comedy’s Edgar Allan Poe’s Murder Mystery Dinner Party and the upcoming comedy series from The Tin Can Brother’s Wayward Guide for the Untrained Eye. He was most recently seen onstage in Los Angeles and Chicago as the leading role in the world premiere of the new comedy musical Spies are Forever! (By Tin Can Brothers/TalkFine). Theatre credits include the 2014 Ovation Award-nominated Les Miserables at Cathy Rigby’s La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, Damn Yankees with Richard Kind at Casa Mañana Theatre and the regional debut of The Light in the Piazza at Theatre Three in Dallas, Tx. He toured the country in the original sketch comedy show The JoMoShow, was a company member of Second City’s TMI The Show sketch comedy troupe. Curt is also a writer, producer, director and is currently finishing up production of his directorial debut of his original horror/thriller feature film. He can be heard weekly sharing original stories and audio content on his podcast Story Matters. He has personally studied and coached with Gray Studios since 2012 and has also studied extensively at Upright Citizen’s Brigade. Curt is the Director of Creative Operations for Gray Studios and oversees the Make-A-Movie film camp program where he has written and directed over 50+ short films in the past three years for the studio.
Born and raised in Plano, Texas, Kenton discovered his love for acting in the fourth grade when he landed supporting roles in Dallas Theater Center’s musical rendition of A Christmas Carole. He loved being on stage and got great joy from entertaining the audience. The show did thirty-five performances and Kenton relished every one. Most recently, Kenton wrapped production in a lead role in the indie films Little Savages (2014), produced and starred in the indie film Mickey Matson and the Pirate’s Code (2014). Two other recent films are Silver Bells (2013) and Contest (2013). Kenton’s past TV credits include one of the stars on the Disney Channel hit series Shake It Up as the hilarious character of “Gunther.” He also had a recurring role on the last season of the hit ABC series Lost, in the role of “Young Jacob.” Kenton guest-starred on the new ABC comedy Fresh Off the Boat, Tim Allen’s comedy Last Man Standing. In addition, he has also appeared in several sketches on The Tonight Show. He has guest-starred on such shows as Cold Case and recurred on several episodes of Ctrl. Kenton performed in a starring role in the Lifetime television movie Christmas in Paradise. His motion picture credits include a lead role opposite Tim Allen and Sigourney Weaver in Crazy on the Outside (2010), and he was the American lead role in the overseas hit film, My Name Is Kahn (2010). Kenton also had a lead role, opposite Sean Astin, in the indie film Amazing Love: The Story of Hosea (2012). Look for his in the upcoming feature film Crowning Jules and Deadly Mistakes!
John is a graduate of the University of Florida. He has been working in television, film, and stage in Los Angeles since 1989. His recent Television work includes major recurring roles on the ABC’s smash hit How To Get Away With Murder, MTV’s Teen Wolf. For twelve years, he traveled throughout the country performing his critically acclaimed one-man show, Father, Son & Holy Coach, which is the tale of a father who wants a do-over in life and is determined to do so vicariously through his son. Posey seamlessly portrays two dozen different people during the production. John also works extensively in the voice-over market and has shot more than 200 television commercials. As a screenwriter, he has written screenplays for SONY, Disney and HBO. His film Legendary, starring Patricia Clarkson and Danny Glover was released in the Fall of 2010. His biopic about the famed 1940s-’50s cultural icon “Gorgeous George” is set up at WWE Studios. John is a speechwriter and has also created original syndicated programming for radio.
Scott Parkin did his first commercial when he was 21 years old since then Scott has appeared in over 150 TV commercials for companies like AT&T, Lowes, Chevron, Ford, McDonald’s , Doritos’s, Coca Cola, Honda, T-Mobil, Applebee’s, Las Vegas , Clorox , Toyota , Pfizer , Coors and many more. Scott’s worked steadily in commercials for over 25 years. Over this time he’s developed the skill set to get to the call back and book the spot. With over 20 years of improvisation on stage and in TV commercials Scott can teach you how to broaden your range, bring the most to every script and to take your very best shot at every commercial audition you get. He’ll teach you how to book the room, make an impression and stand out to both agency creatives and the director so they bring you back in for other commercial clients. Scott has written comedy for Network TV, done stand up and is a veteran of the comedy stage so his classes are high energy with lots of practical application skills that you’ll use immediately after the class and it’s really fun. Scott works with the top commercial directors and casting directors in the country. You’ll leave Scott’s class with new skills to help you have your highest % shot at booking your next commercial audition.
