5 Films Coming Out in 2023/4 that We’re Most Excited For

The juggernaut that is Hollywood has been pumping out some of the most well-crafted movies ever in recent years, and it shows no sign of slowing down – and we wouldn’t want it to! With summer blockbusters over for this year, we look ahead to the biggest upcoming releases with bated breath. Here are just 5 of the biggest films that are coming out in the next couple of years.

  1. John Wick: Chapter 4 – 2023

With the last instalment of the John Wick franchise having come out all the way back in 2019, we cannot wait for the next dose of our favourite dog-loving assassin. Famous for its ground-breaking action scenes, with the lead Keanu Reeves doing almost all of the stunts himself, John Wick started as an unexpected hit but has since grown into one of the most successful action movie franchises. This next film will see the return of the titular character, as well as the rest of the old guard – Winston, Charon, and the Bowery King – fighting against the High Table after Wick appeared to be killed at the end of Parabellum, only to escape to fight another day.

  1. Dune: Part Two – 2023

Who else was taken aback when, after sitting down to watch the 2021 movie adaptation of Dune, the words “part one” came onto the screen? Instantly, before the film had even really started, the excitement for Part Two was bubbling. Although Frank Herbert’s book has been called “unadaptable” in the past, Denis Villeneuve set out to prove the nay-sayers wrong with one of the most gorgeous movies to come out of the 21st century, in both cinematography and actors! In addition to the already star-studded cast, including Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and Rebecca Ferguson, Part Two will see Austin Butler and Florence Pugh join the fold. Hopefully this instalment will answer some of the questions created by part one, although it has been hinted that a part three may also be in the works…

  1. Peaky Blinders – 2024 (TBC)

Brummies everywhere, rejoice! After season 6 of Peaky Blinders concluded the almost decade-long TV show, creator Steven Knight confirmed that a film is coming. Although not release date has yet been confirmed, Knight has finished the script and the project is in preproduction, so a 2024 release is likely. Maya from WeLoveBrum.co.uk says: “I’m from Birmingham, born and raised, and seeing the popularity of this show really makes me happy. The film will be even grander than the show, I’m sure, and it’s going to be filmed just around the corner from me in Digbeth which is even more exciting!” The movie will see the return of Tommy and the Shelby family, and is rumoured to take place around World War II, so the scope will be bigger than ever.

  1. Marvel Phases 5 and 6 – 2023 and 2024

Okay, this one is a bit of a cheat. When it comes to Marvel, there is no way to pick just one upcoming film as the most exciting. Phase 4 has been bringing the MCU into bigger and more amazing places, with the focus on the multiverse being at the forefront of movies and series such as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Loki. But the House of Mouse knows that we want more, so the slate of movies in phases 5 and 6 have already been revealed. These include Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Blade, and the long-awaited Fantastic Four. Phew, this will be a whirlwind few years!

  1. Titanic Rerelease – 2023

We may be cheating a little again since this isn’t a new film, but this will still be one of the biggest cinematic events of the year. Titanic, one of the highest grossing films of all time, with 11 Oscar wins and one hundred more awards, is returning to the big screen in the most jaw-dropping way yet. Rereleasing in 4K HDR 3D, you will be more immersed than ever in the tragic sinking of the Titanic and the love story of Jack and Rose. Hold onto your lifejackets, this one will blow you away.
