Deleyaman
in Concert
This four member band
from Europe has released
three albums to date while
creating a unique and
mysterious sound which is
effortlessly beautiful.
Their music is impossible to
pigeon hole and probably in
a genre of its own. The use
of otherworldly
instruments like the
armenian duduk, the saz or
the def alongside
contemporary electronic
instruments constitute a
major part of Deleyaman's
music.
The vocals sometimes
sound like prayers or
incantations and are sung in
English,
Armenian,
Swedish
and French.
Deleyaman's ethereal and
atmospheric soundscapes
often rock the listener into
a blissful state of reverie.
The critics are unanimous in
praising their unusual
heavenly sound which is a
blend of old and new, east
and west, acoustic and
electronic.

Savage
In Limbo
“Savage In Limbo” (1985) is
an early play by John
Patrick Shanley,
prize-winning writer who has
received an Oscar®
(“Moonstruck”) a Tony ® and
a Pulitzer (“Doubt”).
The action is set in a seedy
bar in the Bronx. The Bronx
in 1985 (the year of the
play’s original production)
was largely Italian and
Irish, but the diverse
casting of the current
production more reflects the
Bronx of today. Shanley
subtitled his piece “A
Concert Play,” suggesting
that his dialogue had a
calculated musicality to it
as well as his intent to
include the audience in the
world of his characters.
Scales, the bar, is
populated by regulars with
no place better to go. The
characters are 32 years of
age, which suggests the
bloom of youth is starting
to fade, even though middle
age has not yet arrived.
There’s Murk, the sullen
bartender; April White, a
boozy failed nun; Linda
Rotunda, a woman with too
many lovers and too many
illegitimate kids; Tony
Aronica, the neighborhood
stud for whom Linda pines;
and there’s Denise Savage,
the Savage of the title.
She’s alone in life, and may
be the Bronx’s oldest
virgin.
Savage sees an opportunity
to change her status (i.e.
dispense with her virginity
as well as her loneliness
and alienation), as she
suspects a growing
disaffection between Linda
and Tony. Savage makes a
play for Tony, as she
surmises that she is
actually what Tony desires.
Linda, however, is not the
type to give up her man
without fighting for him.
Denise will have several
surprises coming her way.
Chris Stone directs a cast
that includes Jolene Kim,
Laura Bottrell, Pamela
Donnelly, Steve Kehela and
Jamil Al-Chokhachi

Room
to Improv
"Room To Improv" begins it
5th year at the Two Roads
with their hilarious
comedy/improv show the 1st
and
3rd Friday nights of
every month at 10:30PM.
Room to Improv flips
the script and performs
without a safety net. They
also perform without a
script, set or idea of what
will come next. As one of
the few Asian American
troupes, the only constant
with a Room to Improv show
is that all the scenes and
games are improvised.
Improvisation is a
theatrical art form whose
foundation is built on
audience suggestions and
interaction.
The complete performance
will be inspired by
suggestions from the
audience and created
spontaneously by the
ensemble cast. Room to
Improv is proud and blessed
to be able to share their
talents with whoever gives
them the time, audience and
the Room to Improv.
