The Colony Theatre Company presents The Los Angeles Premiere of
TRAVELS WITH MY AUNT
Written by Graham Greene
Adapted for the stage by Giles Havergal
Directed by David Dean Bottrell
Secret agents, fortune tellers, Caribbean valets, Turkish police, the Orient Express, all in romantic far off lands of France, Istambul, Brighton England, Argentina and Paraguay, and escorted by your daring, mysterious Aunt, is TRAVELS WITH MY AUNT at The Colony Theatre in Burbank, directed by David Dean Bottrell. Plus, we have men playing women, women playing men with four fabulous actors playing more than 20 roles. Sounds like fun, doesn’t it? It is!
Attending his mother’s cremation, Mild mannered and Dahlia loving retired banker, Henry Pulling, skillfully performed by Thomas James O’Leary, meets his unconventional and outrageous Aunt Augusta who gives him some startling news. This information leads Henry into an adventurous, exciting romp with his Aunt Augusta, performed with complete dedication by the amazing Mark Capri, who is not quite Auntie Mame or Lady Bracknell, but somewhere in between. How exciting!!! Accompanying them is Aunt Augusta’s Caribbean valet Wordsworth performed by the talented Larry Cedar, who is superb as Wordsworth. We meet numerous other characters along this journey, many beautifully played by the wonderful Sybyl Walker, including Miss Keane, Tooley, Italian Girl, Hakim, to name only a few.
All these amazingly talented actors, Thomas James O’Leary, Mark Capri, Larry Cedar and Sybyl Walker become various other characters changing accents and personalities with precision and clarity from the skillful direction by David Dean Bottrell. Scenic Design by Michael C. Smith, Costume Design by Sherry Linnell, and Lighting Design by Jared A. Sayeg, Follow Spot Operator, Heather L. Waters, and Sound Design by Cricket S. Myers enhance this production.
This is the perfect play to begin your 2011 holiday season. Come and enjoy the magic and fun of TRAVELS WITH MY AUNT. Happy Holidays, everybody! Enjoy!!!!!
