The Group Rep presents The World Premiere of NEXT WINDOW, PLEASE

Next Window Please - grt

The Group Rep has a success on its hands with the World Premiere of award-winning playwright Doug Haverty’s new dramedy, NEXT WINDOW, PLEASE at the Lonny Chapman Theatre in NoHo.

NEXT WINDOW, PLEASE gives us an intimate look at the lives of six ethnically diverse women and a good-looking, career climbing male junior executive, when they learn that the bank they work for will be merging with another bank. Each performance creates a picture into their lives and how the merger will affect them. With the potential that the branch may close, loss of jobs or transfers to other departments, what will be their next move?

Instead of employees who sit back and watch their fate happen, Mr. Haverty’s script delivers six strong, straight-forward women who take the “bull by the horns”. Junior Executive, Arthur Kincade (Chris Wolfe) has received the word that he will be promoted to the main office. Loyal Bank Administrator Cassie Andrews (Kady Douglas) has each of the teller’s fates in her hands, and must decide who stays and who goes. The tellers, Lulita (Stephanie Colet), Bennie (Gina Yates), Sophie (Shelby Kocee), Delia Jean (Trisha Hershberger), and Head Teller, GV (Bianca Gisselle) tell us in vignettes their stories, all of them different, but all people we may know in our own lives.

This talented ensemble cast performs together with grace and ease, and Richard Alan Woody’s direction is perfectly matched with Doug Haverty’s excellent script. Terrific set design by Chris Winfield and Richard Alan Woody enhance the production.

This is an extremely enjoyable evening with a storyline very relevant to today. It is great to see compassion for the people we work with and not allowing our economic environment the opportunity to blur what is truly important.
