You are in for a real treat with Hal Linden in the role of Norman Thayer. Mr. Linden brings his own extraordinary talent to the role and completely delights us. Joining him is the wonderful Christina Pickles as his wife, Ethel Thayer. It is as though you are seeing this charming story for the first time. They both bring a new freshness to this classic story: resolving an often tumultuous relationship between father and daughter, the emotional realization that time is passing so quickly after many years of marriage, and the joyful discovering of a young man’s presence in their home for the summer. Monette Magrath, Jonathan Stewart and Jerry Kernion are excellent, and Nicholas Podany as Billy is a fresh new talent and thoroughly enjoyable. They are all superb!
Wonderful direction by the incredible Cameron Watson brings the terrific ensemble of actors to perfection, with a beautiful set by John Iacovelli. I want to mention the superb between scenes lighting by Jared A. Sayeg, which mimics moving water on a lake. I felt as though I was sitting on the boat dock watching the water and it brought me back to the nights on the lake in Upstate New York. Ahhhhh!
You feel good seeing this play. It is like a pair of comfortable fitting shoes. You want to rush to put them on. And you will want to RUSH to see ON GOLDEN POND. Don’t miss this summer on the Pond.
