Falcon Theatre Presents TROUBADOUR THEATER COMPANY’S
LITTLE DRUMMER BOWIE
Directed by Matt Walker and Joseph Leo Bwarie
The Troubies have brought Ziggy Stardust home to the Falcon Theatre. The Troubadour Theater Company, or “Troubies” have once again brought us a winner. Funny storytelling, amazing David Bowie musical numbers’, voices and dancing, and most importantly truly gifted actors make LITTLE DRUMMER BOWIE a hit, and the show to see this Holiday season.
The LITTLE DRUMMER BOWIE, or Ziggy for short (Joseph Leo Bwarie), has lost his family in the desert, and his trusty companions, Babaa (Katie Kitani) and Samson (Cloie Wyatt Taylor) are by his side to get him through. You see, Ziggy is behind in his taxes, and must find a way to get his debt paid. He is convinced to use his singing talent as a way to rid himself of his debt, becoming a huge success in the desert. A shyster convinces Ziggy he can “make him a star,” proclaiming to the masses gathered, “Ladies and Gentlemen of Jerusalem, Ziggy is here to entertain you!” To add to the excitement, there is word in the desert that a “new king” is to be born, and people are gathering to welcome him.
I’m going to leave the story here. It just wouldn’t be fair for me to completely spill the beans. LITTLE DRUMMER BOWIE is such a great show that you MUST go quickly to the Falcon Theatre before the tickets are sold out. I can’t stress enough how incredibly funny and clever it is. The amazingly talented Rick Batalla as Joseph (wait until you see the gold jumpsuit), along with the incredibly funny Beth Kennedy as Ali, Lisa Valenzuela as Mary, Riccardo Berdini as Ben Haramed, Niles Rivers as Jamaal and Katie DeShan as Nadhiyah all totally “bring it.” We can’t forget Matt Walker as “The Voice from Above”, or the brilliant live band. Love the Sax.
Expert Direction by Matt Walker, founder of the Troubies, with colorful, creative costumes, makeup, wigs, scenic design, and lighting, all paramount to the success of this show, and would have made David Bowie proud.
During this holiday, we all love stories of family, rising above our obstacles, and of course Love. Or in Bowie speak, “Modern Love.” LITTLE DRUMMER BOWIE is a thoroughly entertaining evening, filled with comedy, joy, and packed full of Bowie music, and a remarkable group of performers in the Troubadour Theater Company.
I am sending you all my best wishes for a joyful Holiday. Enjoy every moment, but more importantly, enjoy each other and be KIND to one another. This world needs kindness. Onward, upward, outward and forward to 2017. See you next year for another great year of live theatre.
