Edward Albee West Coast Premiere Creates Louise Nevelson Legacy at the Garry Marshall Theatre
The West Coast Premiere of Edward Albee’s Occupant marks the third production in the nonprofit’s Inaugural Season, delving into the life of great American sculptor Louise Nevelson. Martha Hackett (Arena Stage, South Coast Repertory, Mark Taper Forum, Star Trek: Voyager) and James Liebman (Rogue Machine, Skylight Theatre Company, Masters of Sex) will star in one of the last plays written by Pulitzer Prize and Tony-winning playwright, Edward Albee. Directed by Actors Co-op Artistic Chairperson Heather Chesley, Occupant will play a limited run, February 2 through March 4, 2018.
Edward Albee’s Occupant has never before been produced on the West Coast.
The creative team includes Scenic Design by Stephen Gifford, Costume Design by Paula Higgins, Sound Design by Robert A. Ramirez, Lighting Design by Jean-Yves Tessier, Makeup design by John Stapleton senior artists for MAC Cosmetics, Casting by Amy Lieberman, and Stage Management by Dale Alan Cooke.

Martha Hackett’s theatre credits include: Other Desert Cities, Tom Walker, The Women (all Arena Stage); State of the Union (Ford’s Theatre); Tom Walker (South Coast Rep); Nora, Macbeth, Anatol, Happy End (LADCC, Garland Awards), Three Sisters, Barbarians, and many others (all Pacific Resident Theatre); The Kentucky Cycle (Mark Taper Forum), etc. Film & Television: The Bye Bye Man; Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible… ; Kiss Kiss Bang Bang; Never Been Kissed; The Mindy Project; Perception; Masters of Sex; Last Resort; NCIS; Days of Our Lives, to name a few. She is both loved and hated for her recurring, notorious turn as Seska on Star Trek: Voyager.

ABOUT HEATHER CHESLEY
Director Heather Chesley has been a member of the Los Angeles theatre community for over a decade. She joined Actors Co-Op Theatre Company in 2004 and was made Artistic Chairperson in 2014. Heather directs a wide range of theatre from the classics to new works. She received critical acclaim directing Thornton Wilder's The Matchmaker, Moliere's The Learned Ladies, and most recently Brian Friehl's Dancing at Lughnasa. She has also directed new works such as the Thompson & Mann musical Trails for The Festival of New American Musicals, the West Coast premiere of Aline Brosh McKenna's Inside Lois and Company We Keep for The Minnesota Fringe Festival. Prior to directing, she produced various shows including Matthew Goldsby's new musical Makin' Hay and Yours, Isabel by Christy Hall. Prior to that, Heather served as the Assistant Artistic Director for The Hampstead Stage Company.
