Whitefire Theatre presents
I REMEMBER LOU
Music, Lyrics and Book by Alan Stillson
I REMEMBER LOU, a new musical comedy with live music, has opened at the Whitefire Theatre in Sherman Oaks. The book, music and lyrics have been written by Alan Stillson and directed by Alissa-Nicole Koblentz, with a large cast performing multiple roles.
The play begins with Lou Goldfarb as a young man faced with the conflicts that come with being raised in a very religious family, and his own idealism. He wants to do the “right” thing as most of us do, but sometimes the right thing is not the most financially rewarding. His family tells him that he must be a successful lawyer, must be prosperous and must show how Judaism has elevated him in monitory stature. So Lou goes to Law School, but has made the choice to serve the poor in public law, and money and stature are not forthcoming in public law. He has disappointed his family and struggle follows as his life evolves.
There is a large, lively cast with a standout performance by Laura Wolfe as Ann Perino/Goldfarb, Lou’s first wife. 17 cute songs and musical numbers are performed with music direction, arrangement and accompaniment by Bonnie Ruth Janofsky.
Enjoy an evening of religious humor at the Whitefire Theatre.
