We all live here for many reasons; weather, creative outlets and all the opportunities that only Southern California provides. The NoHo Arts District and surrounding areas provide one of the most unique living experiences throughout the Los Angeles area.
Kip, the brilliant computer game designer in Michael Golamco’s “Build,” currently at the Geffen Playhouse, looks for much of the play like he’s caught in a fierce windstorm. His black and gray mane is stringy and unkempt, his burly bathrobe covers a well-worn t-shirt and sweats, and he cowers when he walks, as if fearful that the next gust may send him flying across the street. Yet this entire 90-minute, one-act play takes place inside Kip’s Palo Alto home. His appearance is a matter of personal choice.
Collaborative Artists Ensemble presents
Written by Carson McCullers
Directed by Steve Jarrard
Opening at The Raven Theatre on Lankershim Boulevard in North Hollywood for a limited run is Carson McCullers’ play, THE SQUARE ROOT OF WONDERFUL, directed by Steve Jarrard. You may know Southern writer Carson McCullers from her critically acclaimed and wonderful novels THE HEART IS A LONEY HUNTER, and THE MEMBER OF THE WEDDING. Originally performed in 1957 on Broadway, this play by McCullers was a very personal project for her mirroring her own obsessive relationship with her abusive ex-husband, as well as issues surrounding suicide and mother/son relationships.

Dedication, what does this mean? If you are listening to the radio at the lovers' hour, then it means someone is playing your favorite song and the DJ has just announced your name over the airwaves and your lover is smiling and you are blushing, cause he/or she remembered you loved it.

The NoHo Business Improvement District (NoHo BID) and www.nohoartsdistrict.com teamed up to offer the NoHo Card free to all local residents and now is giving a free NoHo Card to anyone visiting the NoHo Arts District in North Hollywood.
Editor's Note: Nohoartsdistrict.com recently gave a tour to 42 international media delegates (sponsored by LA, Inc.). Izzy may be right - NoHo is becoming a "Culture Capital."
Ask anyone and they will tell you that the North Hollywood region of Los Angeles is an area steeped with a rich, vibrant history and culture that is completely its own. With a population nearing eighty thousand citizens, the aptly named NoHo district is never short of things to do, nor is it short of people willing to do them – the area is rife with establishments dedicated to some of the finer pursuits in life: music and theatre.

I know it has been awhile since I have been the one writing my blog. I hope you enjoyed all of the amazing artists that filled in for me. I know I did.
Now I can tell you where I have been and what I have been up to. I have been knee deep in creating a comprehensive Arts Festival for the district! It is a long story as to how we got here but one I think that is worth sharing.
