Homelessness in North Hollywood is one of the most challenging issues facing our community

Your NoHo Neighborhood Council (NoHo NC) has formed a new Homeless Committee of stakeholders leading our community in finding effective ways to address the complex challenges homelessness and housing shortages present.

What are some of the goals of the new NoHo NC Homeless Committee?

·      To encourage and inform residents and stakeholders on how you can make a difference by volunteering and supporting effective solutions to homelessness and its impact. Yes, together we can make a real difference.

·      To help all stakeholders understand that homelessness is a complex, longstanding problem that will require multi-faceted, long-term solutions.

·      To use our role as neighborhood leaders to partner with social service providers, law enforcement, and elected leaders to bring ever more effective and expansive solutions and services to our community to reduce homelessness and its impact.

Who are we?

The Homeless Committee includes members of the Neighborhood Council, Rev. Stephanie Jaeger, Lisa Kallman, Joanna Stein and Bob Peppermuller (alternate), and stakeholders Randy Brown and Peter Haderlein.

What are we doing?

At our regular monthly Homeless Committee meetings, community leaders present on how they are addressing homelessness so we can find ways to collaborate and increase our effectiveness.  Recent presenters include Senior Lead Officers John Catalano and Robert Benavides, NoHo Neighborhood Prosecutor Todd Gilman, Field Deputy Jessica Orellana from Supervisor Sheila Kuehl’s office, and directors from LA Family Housing, NoHo Home Alliance, CRI-Help, Village Family Services, and the LA County Department of Mental Health.  We are organizing events where you can volunteer and lend your voice to reduce homelessness and improve housing opportunities in our neighborhood.  More info coming soon!

What can you do?
