Owner and Chef Mido Khalili of Pyramido Greek and Mediterranean Grill.
Chef Mido Khalili, a native of Greece who has lived here in the Valley for the past 15 is devoted to his adopted home.
After studying and cooking in Greece, Spain, and Italy, Chef Khalili took a position at the prestigious Bel Air Hotel, where he was employed for over 12 years and was awarded “Employee of the Year” for two years before fulfilling his dream of opening his own restaurant.
“Everything in the restaurant is made by me — from scratch,” he says. “I care deeply about my place, and about my customers. Our food is unique. We use only the best quality ingredients.” A few popular specials include well-marinated lamb chops from New Zealand — farm-raised animals — and a vegetarian plate with grape leaves, hummus, falafel, tabouli, and Baba Ghanouj. Moussaka is also popular and the chef highly recommends his “taste of Greece” which includes hummus, Baba Ghanouj, yogurt “Tzatziki,” Greek salad, tarama, pickles, grape leaves, falafel, grilled pita, and spinach pie and cheese rolls: a Greek feast for the stunning value of only $19.95. Also try the chicken and beef kebabs, shawarmas, and falafels.
Desserts include homemade Baklava, flourless chocolate cake, and smoothies and shakes.
An after-dinner tradition carried on in the lovely outdoor patio around the fire pit is the smoking of hookah, usually with a glass of wine. The Pyramido blend of tobacco includes 20 flavors that can be mixed. The cost is $16 per hookah.
Happy Hour drink specials range from $4 to $6 specials from the full bar. Popular drinks include Tequila Sunrise, Screwdrivers, and Greek wine such as Boutari and beer. A Greek beer, Mythos gives the distinct flavor of its homeland for $4.95.
