We all love NoHo – its arts, its restaurants, its parks, its theatres.
But it’s no secret that sometimes that charm has a bit of grit underneath it. L.A.’s sanitation teams and the BID crews do a good job keeping up with the mess, but they can always use a helping hand. And that’s where the NoHo Neighborhood Council’s “March into Beauty” initiative will step in.
Starting this March, NoHo Neighborhood Council (NoHo NC) is sponsoring monthly beautification events throughout the area. Each one is organized to be a fast, targeted operation that can be completed in 2-3 hours with enough volunteers. The goal is to help clean up our neighborhood while also engaging the community to help make the area a cleaner space for everybody.
On March 4, 15 volunteers joined together to help clean up trash along the Chandler Bike Path. Despite wind and a slightly cooler than expected morning, we managed to pull out over a dozen large bags of trash that the city hauled away for us. We also met many neighborhood residents who were happy to see people taking a moment to take pride in their community and asking how they can get involved in the future. Check out the pictures below to see your neighbors in action!
The next event will take place on April 8, from 9am to 11am. We will be taking part in the “No Butts L.A.” campaign to have groups tackle the problem of the cigarette butts, litter that is almost invisible in its ubiquity. Join us to work as a team, or you can even take some time to clean up near your home and share your work to Twitter/Instagram using the hashtag #NoButtsLA.
The council has already planned events for May and June as well. Come join us, bring a smile and a can-do attitude and let’s make NoHo even better together.
