The NoHo Arts District is getting stronger, pun intended. Welcome HKFit to our growing, eclectic (and fun!) neighborhood!

The NoHo motto really should be:

“NoHo is only as great as its people.”

Meet Steph Wilberding, founder of HKFit, a different kind of fitness studio in the NoHo Arts District.

HKFit was founded by Steph Wilberding who has spent that last five years on the training team at Mark Fisher Fitness (MFF)in NYC. MFF is a gym that was created by a small group of actors-turned-trainers (including Wilberding, a singer/actor) and quickly earned the title of “Broadway’s Gym.” At MFF you will find actors training next to producers. You may see a casting director sweating it out next to a doctor who did a show once in college with their bestie who is now a Broadway actor.

Steph found that same creative energy here in the NoHo Arts District which led to searching and finding a home on Lankershim Blvd. (4655 Lankershim Blvd.) perfectly situation next to the highway, just a quick drive to all the studios and an easy find for the NoHo community. The letters HK in the name are significant for two reasons. It’s a shout out to the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood where Wilberding spent her years at MFF and it also stands for the letters “H” and “K” in humankind.

Let’s give HKFit a big NoHo welcome!

What does HKFit offer?

HKFit offers two kinds of group fitness experiences, their regular on-going HKFit classes and Snatched in Six Weeks.

HKFit is the first studio outside of NYC to offer Mark Fisher Fitness’ signature program, Snatched in Six Weeks. This six-week transformation program is anchored by its attention to physical technique and nutrition coaching. The group experience offers invaluable accountability and comradery. It is one of the most successful transformation programs in the country and is being offered for the first time ever right here in NoHo at HKFit.

There is also the opportunity to take regular HKFit classes. All workouts are High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) based in kettlebell and bodyweight calisthenics.

What is unique about your HKFit?

At HKFit the class size is small (12) allowing for individual attention from the class coach as well as creating a space where people with all fitness levels feel comfortable. HKFit prides itself on its “safety first” approach to build confidence in movement while also offering plenty of opportunity to “get after it”. The goal is that clients leave feeling like a rockstar after crushing their workout while being taken care of by their coach.

Why should a person come to you versus pilates or a cardio dance class?

HKFit classes offer a strength and conditioning experience. Other forms of exercise are also great, it really just depends on what you’re looking to do with your fitness. Classes at HKFit will help you build strength and burn fat all while having a great time.

Why did you pick NoHo Arts District?

The NoHo Arts District felt like such a great fit considering HKFit’s roots back in NYC in Hell’s Kitchen right there in the Theatre District. Finding a home in the Arts District just made sense! There’s a scrappiness and grit to NoHo that feels familiar, not to mention some amazing theatres nearby. Our Lankershim location is also extremely convenient to the studios making it easier to serve the Film and TV community.
