My family and I drove up from Long Beach, very much looking forward to celebrating our heritage and eating some good food. We were really disappointed. We arrived around 1:30 pm to find the fest was in a parking lot of an Italian restaurant. I've been going to Italian Fests for well over 30 years. This was not a festival. The only food available was in the restaurant, which had absolutely no organization and was wholly unprepared! We waited at the bar for 20 minutes to order Italian Sodas and were not ever even acknowledged by anyone behind the bar -- and there were only 2 patrons sitting at the bar. I asked the man, who seemed to maybe be in charge, if we could be put on a waiting list for a table and received a rude, "You'll have to wait." This man knew we'd been standing there, waiting -- basically beside him. He didn't even have a list going. We went back outside. We double checked, there were no food vendors, one stand selling drinks = lemonade, and still no one on the stage. Other than the bocce ball stand and the restaurant being Italian, there was very little to embrace Italia! The organizers need to completely rethink everything! Go check San Diego's out; they've got it a bit more together. Or, the East Coast, which definitely knows how Italian Fests should be!
