The Universal City / North Hollywood Jr. Chamber of Commerce is having their annual Operation Santa event. Operation Santa gives children from economically disadvantaged families the chance to have their "Christmas wish list" come true.

Most of the children sponsored by Operation Santa have never received a new toy in their lives. A wish list from last year stated: "Dear Santa, please don't forget about our family again this year. More than anything I would like you to bring my dad a coffee maker and my little sister a talking doll." Each year several local businesses allow Operation Santa to put a donation toy box in a highly visible area. These boxes are then collected by Jaycees members, Key Club kids from local high schools, LAVC students or other local volunteers in the community for distribution to needy families. Operation Santa also reaches out to those willing to sponsor specific families. Volunteers are needed for: Box decorating, distribution and pick-up. Finding sponsors to purchase gifts for specific families (sponsors are needed for small, medium and large families). Sorting donated gifts from boxes for specific families. Drivers willing to deliver gifts to homes on Christmas eve. Ideally 3-people per car and one willing to dress as Santa. Santa suits available. Volunteers willing to work at LAVC on Christmas eve from around 10am - 2pm handing out gifts and refreshments to families, facilitating photos with Santa, set-up and clean-up. If you would like more information on Operation Santa, or would like to be a sponsor or volunteer, please contact Wendie Wilson at: wendie@ucnhjaycees.org or 323-304-0530.

You can drop off an unwrapped toy at the NoHo Farmers Market on Saturdays 9am-1pm on Bakman Ave. between Magnolia Blvd. and Weddington St.
