A wonderful musical celebration of the 1930s and 1940s, depression, World War II and post war is the fifth and final production of The Colony Theatre Company’s 36th season.  THE ALL NIGHT STRUT, conceived and originally directed and choreographed by Fran Charnas, bursts onto the multi-tiered stage giving us a superb look at the joys and memories of two decades in song and dance.  In two fabulous acts and 28 songs, the evening is filled with jazz, blues, bebop and classic American songs as we travel through the Jazz Age, Harlem, the renowned El Morocco nightclub, Swing and the Stage Door Canteen.

(from top to bottom) Michael Dotson, Scotch Ellis Loring, Jennifer Shelton and Jayme Lake star in THE ALL NIGHT STRUT!, now playing at the Colony Theatre in Burbank. PHOTO CREDIT: Michael LamontMichael Dotson, Jayme Lake, Scotch Ellis Loring and Jennifer Shelton transport us back to a different time and captivate us with the energy, romance, emotion, delight, heartache, and memories of days gone by.  They are all fantastic with velvet voices, tons of energy, rhythms and melodies, harmonies and styling’s.  My particular favorites were fantastic renditions of “Java Jive”, “Shoo Shoo Baby”, “Operator”, “Beat Me Daddy, Eight To The Bar”, and the sentimental and pull-at-the-heart-strings, “I’ll Be Seeing You”.  You will have your favorite songs, I’m sure.  But each of the 28 songs will bring you back….to your memories, as well as ignite a new generation of Swing fans.

Dean Mora’s musical direction is out of this world and his band with Dean on Piano, Jim Garafalo on Bass and Ray Frisby on Drums is the absolutely perfect accompaniment to complete the show.  Murphy Cross and Paul Kreppal have given us terrific direction and choreography.  Lighting design by Luke Moyer added to the mood of each song.  Each and every member of this production should be applauded.

This is an evening of “singin’ and swingin’” and worth every minute.  Get into the spirit and have your hearts lifted.  THIS IS ONE SHOW NOT TO MISS!  Congratulations, Colony Theatre to another successful season.  Standing ovations to everyone.

Enjoy!!!!!!!
