‘Body Politic’ Speaks Out at The Art Institute of California-Hollywood
Annual Fashion Show

Runway Theme Celebrates Presidential Election

Sharing their voice through fashion design, fashion students from The Art Institute of California-Hollywood, a campus of Argosy University, will express themselves at the school’s annual public fashion show held on Saturday, October 13.  This year’s theme, “The Red Carpet 2012: The Body Politic,” celebrates this presidential election year as the inspiration for the designs.

Held on the scenic rooftop of the North Hollywood campus, the show will feature 12 collections with 8-10 garments per collection by current students and graduates of The Art Institute of California - Hollywood.

Students from several other programs including the areas of culinary, digital filmmaking, fashion marketing, graphic design, interior and set & exhibit design, photography, and interactive media have collaborated their talents to produce the show.

“There are many aspects to this theme students can draw from, including Michelle Obama’s style, color schemes from the Obama children’s attire, the formality of the menswear we see in political circles, or simply taking from good ol’ red, white and blue,” says Fashion Design Academic Director Aleta Campbell.  “It will be interesting to see which way each student goes with their designs and how they integrate their own point of view fashion-wise or politically.”

Student designers are awarded several honors at the show and judging the designs will include “Project Runway” Season 4 contestant Kit Scarbo.

The Art Institute of California – Hollywood, a campus of Argosy University, is located at 5250 Lankershim Blvd. in North Hollywood, CA 91601.  Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show will begin at 7:00 p.m.  Ticket cost ranges from $10-40.  For more information and to purchase tickets, visit http://aifashionshow.bpt.me/.
