noho food truck fest

How did the NoHo Food Truck Fest begin?
We wanted to start a business that we would be able to donate to small dog rescues. These rescues do not have the staff to take the time to raise funds and we saw that we could fulfill a need for the dog rescues. We had our first event last March, “The NoHo Food Truck Fest”. Then, we had one in June and our third was in September. In November, we began weekly events for the community, which are free.

What type of trucks do you have there?
All kinds, the truck menus are unique compared to restaurants, each truck specializes in different cuisines from around the world and usually the truck is run by families. For example, Curbside Craving, Nom Nom, Rounds Burgers, My Delight Cupcakes are just some of the trucks that have participated. The food trucks change weekly.

What's unique about your food truck fest?
First, the event is free and we always incorporate some type of entertainment and we try to showcase and promote the local talent in the area. We are open to all types of performers and we have flag dancing, hula hoop demonstrations and the popular teen duo – 2- U- Neek performed on February 17th. You can also bring your dog to the event and we have dog adoptions too.

How did you decide what type of charities to give to?
We are dog owners and when we realized how many dogs are put down for no other reason than a lack of space; we wanted to do something to help the rescues save them from being euthanized. With our events, we can help by having adoptions and by donating some of the proceeds.

Are food trucks still popular?
Yes, there is still a need for food trucks especially for our type of event because it brings people together just by the way it is set up with all the activities.

Also, it is a great way to take advantage of Southern California weather, eat outside & have the possibility of conversations with people you don't know. This is a great opportunity for people to meet one another and to start the weekend in a positive way without breaking their bank account. We have families that come with young children and the kids love hooping, petting the dogs and eating with their families.

What is your latest project "Gourmet Food Truck Delivery Service?"
We are starting up soon, “The Gourmet Food Truck Delivery Service”. This is similar to the restaurant delivery services that already exist, except, it is only for the food trucks. We will offer this service to the food trucks and people who are in the east San Fernando Valley and charge a small fee for delivery.
