May Stands Still

I was really in the mood to hear some music but I was also not in the mood to brave the LA club scene. Fall surprised us with some chilly weather not usual for Los Angeles and I was craving the cozies (ie pumpkin latte, fire, sweaters). Luckily for me I made the perfect choice to see the group “May Stands Still” that night at Taix on Sunset. It was the perfect match for my mood and the music provided for all my cravings. I sat comfortably in my chair next to one of my best friends from High School along with some friends and family of the band.

May Stands Still is music to take you through the best years of your life. They're like your best friends. Their music reminds me of the turning points of youth…you know, going off to college, falling in love figuring it all out but with the help of the friends that last a lifetime to the later years when you reflect back on those times.

Singer and songwriter Emily Herdon fronts the band and plays guitar. I met Emily at a few shows of mine and I had heard amazing things about this girl. Her voice has a flawless lilt and her pitch is impeccable. Her songwriting is personal, poetic and relatable. She makes you feel safe. She is backed by Asha Sukumar (violin, mandolin, vocals), Wes Switzer (Bass, production), Scott Bauer (guitar, vocals). They are all incredible and at the top of their musicianship.

May Stands Still came together in 2010 in San Diego. Since then, they’ve moved the act to Los Angeles and released their EP “Matter of Time”. I have this EP in my car and it provides the same warm hearted comfort that I experienced that cold night in LA.

Right now they’re heading an indiegogo campaign to raise funds to record their full-length record! They’re really close to their goal and they only have a few more days to achieve it! Watch their adorable campaign and give a little to help these amazing musicians! You’ll be happy that you did!
