We’re listening to Naaz single “Up to Something”

We figured we all need some encouragement to keep with our plans for 2018. You see we won’t call them resolutions, just plans. So let’s take a look at a young singer named Naaz or as she puts on her Facebook page:

“Hi I'm Naaz, a kurd from Holland, I make quirkpop.”

Her single “Up to Something” has an easy, breezy, catchy hook where you instantly sing along.

What’s inspiring about Naaz is she initially didn’t have the support from her family so she made music from her bedroom, in secret. Nevertheless, she persisted. Nothing was going to stop her from making music.

The lyrics tell a quick, to the point story of Naaz’s music making, where she tells her family and any other initial doubters, basically, what's up.

“Don't want to hurt them, but this is who I am Chasing ambitions, making my own mistakes.”

Our favorite verse is: “All that I'm saying, is that I'm staying true. Why don't you see it? Why don't you see it too?”

Her Instagram 2017 recap sums it up and we’re happy someone had a positive 2017! Now that’s inspirational.

2017: - failed to get accepted into college, which bought me time to convince my family of me doing music for real as a Kurdish girl, this always seemed impossible / but we did it fam 🙏🏼 - turned into even more of a bedroom hermit by deciding to also produce my songs, this helped me discover my sound which has now changed my life 💜 - felt myself develop into somewhat of a woman, facing fears I’ve always had and letting go of things I thought were part of me forever - got signed to Universal, Dapper, Island Records & Mercury records 💫 - debuted my music!!! - my official debut video for ‘Words’ was premiered by @thefader (😭) my other vids by @noisey & @interviewmag which is all so crazy - met my bandmembers in the craziest ways!! (for instance: my drummer was my drum teacher hahaha) they’re now my fam and I’d do anything for them 💜 - got nominated for some really cool awards & also twice for the dutch grammies!!!! Edison pop 2018 💫⚡️🌈 - went from having heavy stage fright that got me convincing myself I could never be more than a bedroom artist, to performing my first show & only 3 shows later getting to play @lowlands_fest which was my lifelong dream & I still can’t believe it!!! 😩 - got to travel to different countries with my closest people to do music things & shows 💜💜💜 - signed to CAA bookings agency in Europe & Paradigm Talent Agency in the US 😍 (this is extra crazy to me as I used to be so scared of performing, and now I’m in love with it) - became a dog auntie - MY BROTHER GOT MARRIED 👨‍👩‍👧!!! - got to be in VOGUE, Linda Meiden & Elle Magazine - frontpage Volkskrant as #1 artist in Holland for 2018 🙏🏼💜💜💜 - radio @npo3FM gave me 2 #3FMmegahits, still shook - more than 10.000.000+ streams in total on my songs on @spotify 😩⚡️ - played on national TV & radio - learned to forgive myself for not loving myself enough through the years, confronted many bad habits.. growing.. - getting absolutely ready to release my ‘Bits Of Naaz’ EP next year, with sounds and words I’ve never been more proud of.. THANKU I don’t know what to say 🙏🏼
